Father Ted’s Graham Linehan and The League Of Gentlemen’s Jeremy Dyson are collaborating on a BBC2 pilot of BBC Radio 4’s Count Arthur Strong’s Radio Show.
The radio show’s producer, Komedia Entertainment, will team up with Talkback Thames to produce the 30-minute non-TX pilot, featuring Stephen Delaney’s comedy character Count Arthur Strong – a belligerent, self-proclaimed showbusiness legend.
The comedy will be written by Delaney, Linehan and Dyson, and will feature a spoof, low-budget gameshow based on formats including The Generation Game and Bullseye. Komedia director Richard Daws said: “We wanted to build the ‘dream team’ to transfer the character onto TV. The collaboration with Talkback gives us that opportunity.” Linehan said it was a “dream come true” to work with the character Strong, who first appeared on air in Mark Radcliffe’s BBC Radio 2 show five years ago.
Stephen Delaney added: ‘Sounds good to me. Where do I sign? Can I have a Winnibago?’
